Symbian

Every quarter, new mobile phones are coming out with "must have" features. Soon GPS will be as common place in mobile phones as the camera has become over the last few years. The Symbian OS has been open sourced and a number of new extensions being developed are making development for the platform easier.

Blackberry

The Blackberry has become the essential business tool for professionals on the move. The RIM platform provides easy integration of email, contacts and calendars while away from PCs.

The Blackberry is, however, far more than just a business tool. Just like the iPhone, it too has an application store where users can download productivity tools, games and utilities.

The ability to distribute applications in an ad-hoc fashion is also often seen as an advantage over some of the other application approval processes used on other smart phone platforms like the iPhone and Symbian.
